The goal of the Foundation's Tie-Dying Project is to bring about more economic independence for African women. Specifically, the project provides an opportunity for women to practice their skills in coloring fabric. First, cloth called bazin is marked with African print designs. Second, the printed cloth is colored using a complex tie-dye process that requires approximately ten days to complete.
All proceeds will be transferred to both the Association of Women Tie-Dyers and the micro-financing program. By transferring some of the proceeds into the micro financing program, the Foundation will be able assist women in craft associations located in other regions of Guinea. In the end, more and more women will use their skills and talents to improve the economic conditions that will be inherited by future generations.
