Story:
My Name is Fatoumata Bangoura and I leave in Kindia in the Neighborhood of Banlieu. I have been married twice and I am now divorced. My first marriage was a forced marriage and the second marriage failed because of abuse. I found myself with nothing but my four kids and no one was there to help us. I decided to start tie-dying in 2004 with family member since our region is well known for this practice. I struggled a lot in to do the tie-dye; I could not afford the materials necessary to do the tie-dye. In 2008 someone got my attention and told me about There Is No Limit Foundation, an American organization that gives loans to women. I tried my luck by applying; I told them my story. They accepted my application and made me President of the Association of Women Tie-Dyers.
There Is No Limit Foundation also loaned me $200 which is equivalent to 1,000,000 Guinean Franc to start my business. I felt valued; I felt good about myself. My view on life changed; I now had more hope because I knew people believed in me. I brought more cloths and colors with the loan I received and started selling my tie-dyed products on the ground in the open market.
As the President of the Association of Women Tie-Dyers, I help the women in the association with design ideas. Most of the tie-dyed products brought to New York are made by me. I now have 3 women employees in my business. I am able to feed my four kids and provide them with a good education.
In November 2009, There Is No Limit Foundation made a donation again to my business. The foundation donated fabric cloths, colors and $200 to my business. I was so happy and thankful. I am now trying to expend my business into a shop so that I can hire event more women. The women in my community need a lot of help; I want to help them. I would like to be sponsored for $1500 in order to start my shop that will create more jobs. My shop will allow me to be independent; I will be able to make more progress and help my community.
I am counting on There Is No Limit Foundation. May God continue to bless this organization and its donors and guide them to help more people.
