“Digital Warriors” Screening at German House

03.13.2019 Patricia Mars

In commemoration of Women History Month and the United Nations 63rd Commission on the Status of Women (CSW63),  The Permanent Mission of Germany, together with Deutsche Welle and There Is No Limit Foundation, hosted a Side Event on women’s digital activism.

It featured a screening of the Deutsche Welle film “Digital Warriors,” followed by a panel discussion moderated by Ambassador Christoph Heusgen focused on the power of women’s voices on social media in order to promote their rights.

Both the film screening and  discussion drew attention to the varying areas in which women and girls today still face human rights violations in different countries around the world. It also showed that women and girls are being empowered by digital media and that they can find a voice. This is also one of aims of CSW63, to work towards empowerment of women and girls and sustainable achievements towards gender equality.
